Research interests include media effects, public opinion,
sports news gatekeeping, visual communication and international news media.
Member of the Association for Education in Journalism and
Mass Communication (served as president in 2006-7), International Communication
Association, World Association for Public Opinion Research.
Dr. Wanta is an author or co-author of three books,
including a recently published text on sports writing.He has written more than 150 refereed
journal articles and convention papers.
